What is Pre-Painted, or Coated, Steel?
Pre-painted steel, or coated steel, is steel that has had paint applied to one or both sides via a continuous coil coating process to produce uniformity in the paint finish. The steel can be coated with different substances:
- Adhesives: used mainly in automotive transmission gaskets
- Polymer Coatings: locomotive engine valve covers
